Gas Fireplace InsertA fireplace insert is a great option to turn your existing masonry fireplace into an efficient heating appliance.  Gas is a common fuel choice for these inserts. A gas-powered unit will allow you to create instant flames and heat.  Operate it manually, with a wall switch or with a multi-function remote control.  Gas fireplace inserts are easy to use and can be fit into almost any existing wood burning fireplace. Contact one of our Member Stores near you to find a great value on Gas Fireplace Inserts.

Natural Gas or Propane

Gas fireplace inserts can burn either natural gas or LP gas.  The first step is to check if you already have a natural gas line that can be used. If not, you will either have to use liquid propane or install a natural gas line. Liquid propane (LP) is a great option if your home is not already equipped with a natural gas line. The liquid propane will need to be stored in a tank outside your home.

Gas fireplace inserts should be professionally installed.  Working with natural or LP gas  is not advisable without proper training, equipment and experience.  Extending gas lines, connecting the insert and making any technical adjustments to the equipment is best left to the pro’s!

Venting Options

Gas inserts need to be vented to exhaust the byproducts of the fire into the outdoors. With a gas fireplace insert, the existing chimney of your fireplace can be used as a race-way or conduit for two venting tubes, one to bring in combustion air and the other to carry the exhaust gases to atmosphere.

Zone Heating

Discount gas fireplace inserts are highly efficient and work well for providing zone heating. If you have a cold room in your home, install a gas insert into that old wood burning fireplace.  A gas insert is designed to heat a couple of rooms instead of the whole house.  A gas fireplace insert can often provide adequate heat for the living areas of a house, keep the bedroom areas a bit cooler and help reduce winter heating bills.

Maintenance for gas fireplace inserts is very easy to stay on top of.  Periodically, the glass door of these units will need to be cleaned and the embers of the fire can be freshened up to enhance the realism of the glow of the flames.  Your UFS dealer will have special equipment to electronically inspect for gas leaks.  And, remember it is always prudent to have a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector located in a couple strategic places in your home.

Gas Log Sets

Gas Log Sets

Many gas fireplace inserts will have optional gas log sets, rock or stone sets or other media choices to customize your appliance.  Log sets are made using ceramic or ceramic fiber logs and are designed to look exactly like natural wood.  Once placed over the gas burner, it will be difficult to tell your gas fireplace insert from a natural wood burning fire.  Stones or colored glass can replace the traditional logs in many inserts.  This will give your fireplace a contemporary look as unique and as individual as you are.  You have to stop at your UFS shop and see the beautiful inserts available to update your old fireplace.

Gas fireplace inserts provide a simple way to convert an existing fireplace into an energy efficient heating unit.
