When you make a purchase from a UFS Member Store, whether it’s a discount stove or deluxe gas zero clearance fireplace, you can expect the best quality & customer service available. The staff & installation crews at each Member Store are industry trained and highly knowledgeable about each product.
Need another great reason to choose a specialty hearth store when it’s time to purchase a new fireplace, insert, or stove? The staff at each UFS member store is fully trained by hearth manufacturers and many carry a number of certifications from prestigious associations in the hearth industry.
All UFS member stores belong to the Hearth, Patio, & Barbecue Association (HPBA), which is a trade organization that represents hearth appliance manufacturers, designers and retailers. With the main goal of keeping hearth stores up-to-date on the latest industry trends & best practices, HPBA offers tradeshows & training for all of its members. That means that the sales personnel and the installation & service crew at every UFS member store remains current on new designs, features, and service practices for products offered in the hearth industry.
HPBA also offers certification through the National Fireplace Institute (NFI), which is nationally recognized certification program for hearth planners and installers. Certified UFS member stores go through extensive education courses provided annually at HPBA affiliate meetings and at the HPBExpo Education program. Many of our members have received the following certifications from NFI:
- NFI Gas Specialist
- NFI Woodburning Specialist
- NFI Pellet Specialist
These certification programs help the crews at each UFS member store increase public safety by establishing meaningful credentials for professionals involved in planning and installing residential hearth appliances and venting systems. In fact, these credentials are the most respected in the industry and help bring a great deal of expertise and knowledge to the professionals who work in specialty hearth stores.
Many UFS members have also been certified as professional chimney sweeps through the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA). The CSIA certification program increases a chimney tech’s knowledge of the evaluation and maintenance of chimney and venting systems, making them more efficient and effective at chimney cleanings & inspections.
Big Box stores & online retailers not associated with a brick-and-mortar hearth store can’t offer the knowledge and expertise that you will find at a privately owned UFS member hearth store. Many times, employees at a Big Box store are neither certified nor industry trained, which means you won’t get the service you deserve and the information you require to make an educated purchase. Stop by a UFS member store showroom to experience the best way to shop for a fireplace, stove, or insert.
